Can I use regular colored pencils as paint pencils?

I have a assorted of crayola colored pencils and i want to know if you can use them as paint pencils. Can I use regular colored pencils as paint pencils?
Reg. colored pencils are often waxy and repel moisture if anything. There are watercolor pencils available that can act like a combination watercolor/pencil allowing a lot of control. You draw then use a brush dipped in water to create passages as though these were painted with only watercolor and a brush. Can I use regular colored pencils as paint pencils?
No. Regular colored pencils are not 'designed' to work that way. Their leads are wax based, as was mentioned before. Since they are wax based they won't react with water the way you need them to to paint with. There are ink pencils, watercolor pencils, and chalk pastel pencils. You can find them at most art supply stores. If you want to create something in a watercolor tone, you'll need a new set of pencils.
The only way to get regular wax colored pencils to work more like paint is to use Turpenoid (odorless turpentine) and a brush. It melts the wax and leaves the pigment. I sometimes do an under painting like this for my colored pencil work (especially if I use watercolor paper). Then I draw over the top.
if you want to paint a picture with pencil, you mean watercolor pencils.

if you want to draw on acrylic you need prismacolors

if you want to draw on oil you are out of luck.
