What color to paint walls?

My sofa %26amp; chairs are a light tan color, rug is beige, coffe tables are dk brown, I painted the walls a light yellow but it looks to blah %26amp; washed out. Dining room has to be painted the same color %26amp; the DR chairs are maroon. I'm thinking maroon accents in living room. Want to repaint room, but what color will jazz it up also what color should draperies be?What color to paint walls?
I would go with a light mossy colored green. Since your sofa and chairs are light colored, you can do this. I would go with a patterened drapery with a maroon color in it to pull in the color of the dining room chairs. Use cream pillows with maybe a maroon print to tie in the look. Pier One, Restoration Hardware, Bombay, and Pottery Barn Online have great throw pillows and throw blankets that really set off a room. Good luck!~What color to paint walls?
I THINK THAT TOO MUCH MAROON GIVE TO YOUR HOUSE A BORING AND LINEAR LOOK!IF YOU HAVE A YOUNG SPIRIT ,TRY ANTIQUE RED!!IT CONFEREE A TOUCH OF ELEGANCE AND IN THE SAME TIME MERGING WITH YOUR CLASSIC FURNITURE!GOOD CHANCE!
I'd go with a green color.
Rich brown would go with marron and the rest of your colors.
That is something that is personal with/for the person living there.. In the first place.. I hate ANYTHING that has a yellow.

My favorite colors that might go well with your room is a wheat brown(light brown) to add warmth to the room or a green but the green to be a very soft, light, fern green.. Normally, I do not like green either but I do LOve the light, fern green.. the colors names are not the same for every place that sells paints. I would paint the walls a latex SATIN. semigloss.. Have you thought about painting the ceilings.. I know most people paint it a white.. I have changed all my rooms and I paint the ceilings the same color as the walls but in a flat color.. I like the affect very much
Since you have colors from nature in your sofa, rug, and coffee table table, go with another color from nature; a light shade of green. I agree with the maroon accents, pillows on the sofa, maybe a throw rug under the coffee table, and maroon drapes. I think all would go nicely for the living room and dining room. Good luck on your decorating! I hope this helps.
i d paint it a light 2 med green. the drapes would b a darker green print maYb 1 that has flowers in it with the same color as chairs.
Paint walls a rich coffee latte brown, in a shade darker than your sofa, chair, and carpet. It should be picked to balance with the maroon in your dining room.

Paint one feature wall a deep shade that coordinates with maroon in the dining room. I would suggest a color that is toward a soft purple. The wall between living and dining rooms, both sides, would be good choice to feature. Or one interior living room wall, without windows, would work.

Draperies in a deeper shade of the feature wall. Add to the sofa, three throw pillows in a matching shade, even darker.
In my opinion with what sounds like a lot of different shades of brown, one choice would be a pale blue. I dont know what your style is so its hard to really picture...

I like earthy colors and New England colors. If I knew more of your style and taste in furniture i could recommend better.

The pale blue looks so good with browns...

are you not interested in painting your dining chairs or covering them if the cushions only are maroon?
