The Bed is black wood, purple %26amp; black bedsheets, purple curtains %26amp; area rugs. We just moved from Germany to SC and the walls here are a light brown. Not sure if i should go with white or something else.What color should i paint the bedroom?

Since you have black purple in your room accessories drapes etc you can opt for lavender derived from the family of purples. there are numerous hues, tones, shades in purple. If you want totally opposite color you can opt for lighter tones of Green paler shades preferably.
A very light blue is calming. Blue and white is very pretty together. However, I don't think that would look so great with your purple curtains. Maybe, if you don't want to change the curtains, a neutral color like cream or off-white would suit you.
Very, very, very light lavender.
