Is color sanding needed when painting a fiberglass boat with marine paint?

My first bit of advice is not to paint it. Fiberglass boats seriously de-value when painted as the potential buyer or surveyor can't see what the paint might be hiding, a good polish may be all that is needed to buff out all the chalk that has migrated to the surface. But if it is an old boat and there is no other way around it then yes, a good sand with a P80-P120 grit sandpaper followed by an acetone wash, finish with a two part polyeurothane primer and top-coat, single pack paints are a definite no-no as they will make the boat look worse before the season is out which will give you twice the work for a poor result. Is color sanding needed when painting a fiberglass boat with marine paint?
What do you mean by ';Color Sanding';?
