try terpentine or mineral spirits to soak it out and just keep wiping and wiping it up. don't put any soaps on it. it'll just stick to the paint.
Don't know why it works but Fume Free Oven Cleaner (you know--the stuff in a spray can) it took blood out of my carpet after the cat had kittens! I thought sure it would ruin the carpet as the ex just started spraying (He thought it was the carpet cleaner!) but as of when I left 3 years ago the carpet's fine....
You could try Dawn dish soap or hair spray.
try with a little white spirits, use cotton wool to apply then rinse well with cold water
how about acetone? I know it get dyes (hair dye especially) out of carpets. Just a thought.
